Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26 1991) more popularly known as her professional title Ari Lennox is an American singer and songwriter who hails from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist associated with J. Cole's record label Dreamville Records. The label debuted her first EP titled Pho in October 2016, and she was able to get recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. The album was released in May 2019. Ari Lennox has been uploading her music since 2012, with the release of her first mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. In 2014, Ari Lennox dropped her own single Bound and the mixtape she self-released, Five Finger Discount. The song Sweat it featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album, which was released on July 21st, 2015. Later that year her music circulated around the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to work with him on some potential references to Rihanna. Her announcement to sign with Dreamville Records was made on the 8th of December. Backseat is a song that was written by her and Cozz for the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II. On October 21 2016 she dropped her debut EP entitled Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change and also performed in The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as opening performance. In 2018, she performed as a guest on two tracks, including the EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song and Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on July 16, 2018, which was released on July 16th, 2018. A music video was followed by a music video in September. Then, on the 9th November, she released another two singles titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). On November 13, she released two additional singles titled No One and Pdigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby was then able to make an appearance in the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She released this single as a way to celebrate her debut album titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. In February 2019 the music video for this song was released. The track has garnered more than 3 million YouTube views within a week. In December 2018, she was part of the From East Atlanta With Love Tour that featured 6LACK.
